  • He received his doctor of dental surgery degree graduating third in his class from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 2004


  • Worked in private dental practice for over thirteen years in Central Arkansas


  • He obtained a TEFL certificate to teach English from Wheaton College in 2018


  • He and his family have enjoyed helping serve people on several dental trips they have taken to different locations in the Middle East. Dr. Burleson sold his dental practice moved with his family to China to teach English and explore ways to help in dentistry.

  •  Graduated from the Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery (now known as Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine) in 1980 and completed 2 years of residency before receiving her commission in the Public Health Service


  • Dr. Chesnut served as a medical office and medical director for the Indian Health Service in Jay and Miami for 12 years.


  • She worked at Grand Lake Mental Health for 17 years providing behavioral health services and medication management for patients in medically under-served rural areas.

  • Carol has been a Family Nurse Practitioner with NTHS since 2008. 


  • She received her Associates degree in nursing from NEO in 1999.


  • Carol worked in critical care at Freeman hospital in Joplin Missouri, St Francis  and St Johns in Tulsa and Medical Centers of Southeast Oklahoma in Durant. 


  • Carol received a Bachelor of nursing from Southern Nazarene University in 2004.


  • She graduated with her Masters in nursing from University of Oklahoma in 2007. 


  • She has been certified by AANP since 2007.

  • Started private practice in July 1982 in Baxter Springs, KS


  • Dr. Eaton joined NTHS March 2018 after 36 years in private practice.

  •  Dr. Rebecca Enloe joined NTHS Optometry in 2017 after graduating Quapaw High School in 1998.


  • She studied at Northeastern State University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 2002. 


  • She graduated with her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2007.  


  • She joined the faculty at NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry.


  • She was the Clinic Chief of Optometry at the Cherokee Nation Sam Hider Center in Jay, OK and Director of the Cherokee Nation Rural Eye Program for 10 years.

  • Dr. Hendrex currently serves as the medical director for Northeastern Tribal Health System.


  • He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Northeastern State University.


  • He went on to attend medical school at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he graduated in 2009. 


  • He completed residency in family medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences AHEC Fort Smith in 2012.


  • He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

  • Kara graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma A & M as a Physical Therapy Assistant in 2000.  


  • She continued her education, first, at Pittsburg State University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Biology in 2002. 


  • She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with her Master of Physical Therapy in 2005.


  • Kara graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the Evidence in Motion Institute of Health Professions in 2013.  


  • Kara joined the NTHS team in 2017.

  • Suzanne Mallatt, has been a Family Nurse Practitioner with Northeastern Tribal Health System since 2007.  


  • She studied at Missouri Southern State University, and received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing in 1992.  


  • She worked as a nurse for several years at both Freeman and St. John's Hospitals in Joplin, Missouri before returning for her Masters Degree.  


  • She received her Masters of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Missouri, Kansas City in 2002.  


  • She has been certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners since 2002.

  • Emory Mitchell is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oklahoma.  
  • He obtained his Masters of Art degree at Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.  His training  encompassed community counseling as well as marriage and family therapy.   
  • He currently provides individual, family, and marital therapy for  adults and adolescents. Emory has been trained in Eye Movement  Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is specialized treatment  in overcoming trauma and trauma-related symptoms. Emory believes in a holistic approach to wellness. He strives to encourage people to enhance their physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and relational well-being.

  • Kara North is a proud Peoria Tribal member and Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.  
  • She has over 19 years of successful professional nursing experience with the past 10 years as an Advanced Practice Nurse focused primarily on pediatrics.  
  • Kara obtained her nursing licensures from NEO A&M College in 1997 (ADN); Pittsburg State University in 2003 (BSN); and the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2006 (MSN).  
  • Kara is certified by the Pediatric Certification Nursing Board.  
  • During her early career as a Registered Nurse, she worked in the Newborn Nursery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Pediatric Departments at Freeman Health System.  
  • Kara is currently the Abuse & Neglect Committee Chair and was selected as the 2015 Tribal Merit Award recipient for implementing the Reach Out & Read program promoting early childhood literacy.  
  • Ensuring your child will receive personal, individualized quality healthcare is her goal as she is dedicated to offer health promotion, health protection, disease prevention, and common illness management to our Native American youth.

  • Dr. Cameron Scott currently serves as Chief Optometrist for the NTHS.  


  • He came to NTHS from the  Clinton Indian Clinic in 2008. Prior to spending 2 years at Clinton, Dr. Scott worked 3 years in a rural Kansas, private practice setting.  
     
  • Doctorate of Optometry from University of Houston in 2001


  • Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry


  • American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry


  • Three U.S. Public Health Service Commendation Medals

  • Graduated with a B.S. in Biology from the University of Alabama.


  • D.D.S. degree from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry (LSUSD) in 1994. 


  • He continued his dental education by accepting an Officer Commission in the United States Air Force Dental Corps and received a Certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. 


  • Upon completion of his three years’ of military service, Dr. Shea joined his father in Private Dental Practice and accepted a part-time adjunct professor of operative dentistry at LSUSD. 


  • Dr. Shea’s dental experience includes 20 years in private practice in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, the eight years part-time and two years full time teaching dentistry and his three years as an Air Force dentist.
