Primary care is the first resource for healthcare. Our medical and nursing department offers comprehensive primary health care to tribal members of all ages. The medical staff focuses on wellness and prevention services, acute care, and chronic health conditions such as diabetes or hypertension. The medical department coordinates care with other services offered at NTHS. This is vital as it provides a comprehensive look to your overall health. Comprehensive health care encompasses disease prevention, screenings, diagnosis and treatment, education, recommendation and advisement, and coordination of care. As a result of providing comprehensive health care, your primary care provider can regularly monitor and track changes in your health to make informed decisions based on your needs.
We offer care in general family medicine, pediatrics, women's health, minor orthopedics, and podiatry. Medical services include diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic medical conditions, cryotherapy, general examinations, health education, joint injections, minor procedures, routine care, screenings, and vaccinations. In addition to the previously mentioned, pediatrics provides age-specific well-child examinations, screenings, immunizations, and health education guidance.
The women’s health department provides health maintenance and patient education regarding pap smears, pelvic exams, breast exams, and colon cancer screening. The HPV vaccination is available upon request for young women to protect them from the virus that causes cervical cancer.
